Life these days

D and I have seriously had an amazing week!  We spent last weekend in South Dakota to celebrate my beautiful little niece Ashlan's baptism. Dennis and I are her godparents and we are beyond thrilled to help this little nugget along in her journey with God and her faith.  It is truly an honor.

We got back on Monday night and jumped straight into a crazy work week.  We found out that Dennis was offered a job he interviewed for last week!  We are soo insanely excited and I am really proud of him.  He worked his butt off at two jobs to help us out over the past 5 months since he lost his job and I am happy his hard work has finally paid off and he can stick to 1 job and more quality time with me and the fur baby.  I cannot wait to get our Friday night date nights back!

In other job news, I was offered a job today!  It's with my same company but it's a bit of a promotion and I'm hoping it's leading me towards another big promotion in the near future.  I am loving the fact that I can build my career with this company and it's always nice to see hard work pay off!  Connections seriously make all the difference in this world.

This weekend I am going to start celebrating my sister's birthday with her :)  Her actual birthday is Wednesday so we're getting a bit of a head start on Sunday with a bottomless mimosa brunch downtown Denver.  I. Cannot. Wait.

I hope life has been just as amazing for all of you!  This is one of the best 'start of Spring' weeks ever and we are soaking it up!

Until next time...

Family Time to the Max

One amazing thing about the last few months of this wedding mania is that I get to see my family all. the. time.  And I love it!  My parents were here last weekend and we got to enjoy an amazing tasting with our caterer.  I am SO excited that 3 Sons Italian Restaurant will be preparing the delicious feast for us and our guests.  The only thing we wish we could fit in is a quick nap between the dinner and dancing to recoup from all the pasta ;)

On Saturday night Dennis' mom had a Mexican food feast for us, my parents, Dennis dad and step mom, his aunt, uncle, grandpa, brother, and my sister...it was quite the party and quite the food fest!  {Yes, the weekend really did revolve around food...}

Sunday was a true Sunday Funday.  We went to church, ate a big brunch at Sam's Number 3 downtown Denver, and then headed to the Irish Rover to sit on the rooftop patio and enjoy some yummy drinks.  It was so nice to just relax and enjoy my family this weekend {and check a few things off the never ending to-do list} and I can't wait to do more of that this coming weekend when we head to South Dakota for Ashlan's baptism!

ALSO- I get my new car this weekend!  More on that debacle to come later this week :)

Bye Bye Starbucks…see you in April!

Growing up, I always remember giving up something for Lent.  Some years I would give up soda, other year’s fast food, etc., but I never really paid attention to the meaning of it, or at the very least, asked myself why I was doing it.  Why was it important for me to give something up each Spring and think about said thing every. single. day. until Easter?  I’ve decided that I really enjoy the challenge of removing something {be it a habit, a vice, a food group, whatever…} and reminding myself about things that are truly important.  The Easter season to me, as well as the spring season in general, is all about rebirth and starting fresh and new.  Each year I try to be a little better than I was the year before; I try to be happier, kinder, more thoughtful, and more purposeful in my thoughts and actions.

This year I am going to refrain from a major vice for the 40+ days until Easter {and I am hoping that by putting it in writing I will be held accountable!} … Starbucks.  Now, I worked at coffee shops for years…all through college and my first year in Denver.  I know I have a bit of a coffee addiction BUT I’m not giving up coffee altogether, I see no reason for that.  I just know that my lil Starbucks habit has become way too frequent and way too expensive.  I am hoping that when it’s all said and done, I will truly just indulge in coffee shop concoctions every once in a while, and not 3 times a week.

Sitting down with a cup of coffee and a good book is one of my absolute favorite things to do, and that’s one of the reasons why I love coffee shops so much. I associate them with calm, peace, and happiness.  They remind me of the amazing friends I worked with at a local shop in college {J&S Coffee} and overall just my definition of “me” time {and compared to getting a massage or my nails done every week, it’s cheaper right?!}.  Either way, I think that by removing this vice from my life for a while, I will appreciate it more and remember to enjoy it more.  Here’s hoping.

Cheers to my Keurig and work coffee tasting better than ever this spring, folks!  I hope you all enjoy Fat Tuesday!

Hostess Envy

My friend Kristin is amazing ... I went to her house on Saturday night for dinner and had a serious case of hostess envy.  She and her husband Jeff bought a gorgeous house up in the mountains and they have decorated it down to the last detail.  I am so happy for them and I absolutely LOVE their home.  It has me soooo excited for the day that D and I can buy our first home and really make it our own and then host awesome dinners like these two!
The view driving up to their house...breathtaking!
 Beautiful table scape

Aaaamazing short ribs.  Excuse the blurriness I was just really excited to eat. :)
I got some after dinner snuggles with their pups, Lily and Walter.

We had a really great night catching up complete with homemade ice cream and lots of wine.  I truly believe nights like that are good for the soul and it left me feeling refreshed and ready to take on another week!

Happy Monday all :) Tonight is all about organizing the house!
